  • Such A Newbie

Click here to claim your blog on Blogged.com

I'm still trying to figure out 'what the heck' with all this blogging and now I've been blogged.  I realize I did it, not sure why or how. But now I have a couple of friends checking me out and I soooo wish this is around when I was in school.

I'll age myself here, but what the heck, I went to University way back when to learn the new technology "Computer Science."  Let me tell you, at that time people looked at me as if to say you might as well try flying to the moon!

The University had 1 Computer and it took up a whole building.  We had to use punch card (I'm not even going to try and explain those) to feed into the computer to get results on setting up a new program (today they would be games).  This was back in the DOS days.

I would have been in heaven if we would've had all that is available today.  I love the idea of making friends with people around the world who have the same outlook in life as you do.

For all the younger generations out there enjoy you life in this golden era.

  • Volunteering at Schools

I love volunteering at my children's schools.  You actually get to seem them interact with other kids and the teacher, you see a different side of them.  My two are getting to the early teens so it like watching a tribal ritual how they almost puff up to impress the teacher or other classmates.  And of course the kids in the class try to show off for you, the volunteer.

It must be hard for the teacher to have you there, but they do get free labor having parents do the grunt work for them.  It gives both the teacher and the parent the opportunity to see how your child is in a different setting.

Today, was teacher appreciation day for my son's school.  Parents brought in food for the teacher, breakfast and lunch.  I volunteered to help set things up and bring in desserts.  These teachers should know by the end of the day how much we parents really appreciate them.

The most important thing I believe for my kids right now is for them to start to understand that they are responsible for what is going to happen to them.  Their actions today are going to position them for the future.

Such as, if they don't learn how to study, they won't be able to advance very far in post secondary schools.  If they get pegged as a trouble maker, they could possibly have difficulty in find employment after school.

High School is the time when kids need to learn how to set up goals and achieve them.  To learn to ask for help or guidance to meet their goals.  This is the time to set even small achievable goals that will help them realize their larger goals.

I've had the great fortune of having my kids be believers of the Law of Attraction.  I've learnt to downplay the negative behaviors and focus on the positives.  To teach my kids to acknowledge the positive influences in their lives and try and stay away from the bad environments.  So far I've been fortunate to have two amazing kids.

I would recommend to anyone to check out this FREE ebook on Happy Kids 4 Life .  It's a great book to help lead your kids to make decisions for themselves and the joy of accomplishing the goals they set themselves.

I would love to hear your comments on this e-book.   I believe our kids are our  biggest investment we can make for our future.  You never know when they might have to take care of us.   Payback should be fun!

  • What Am I Doing?

Have you ever had a moment when you asked yourself  What Am I Doing?

I've had a few of those moment too frequently lately.  Then I'd sit in front of the computer and go WOW!

Last year about this time, I knew I had to answer that question.  I was at a point where I was just going moment by moment.  No direction. No end. No beginning. No light at the end of the tunnel.

My doctor told me after my yearly physical that I had to do something.  My iron levels where too low, my cholesterol was to low, my blood pressure was to low, my body was slowing itself down to who know where (we don't want to go there).

How that happened I don't know.  I was an Office Administrator for a law firm that helped the underdogs.  Our clients where people who didn't think they had a chance to fight against the big boys.  We dealt with some sad cases, medical illness, abuse, rapes, etc.  The assistants would have to take the information  from the clients and after a awhile it would get to be to much for them and they would come to me and "get it off their chest."  And times the client would only talk to me.  For 14 years of being a sounding board for all the hurts of the world, I was feeling it.

At home I had two wonderful children growing up into teenagers.  AND, we all know how hard that can be.  Friends betraying friends, missed assignments, trying to fit in, making honor roll.....these are real concerns that mom need to hear and advise or just listen to.

My loving husband of 16 years was frustrated with his work after being there for over 25 years, needing a change, but to what.  So, being the encouraging wife, helped him realize his goal of getting a horticulture certification, where he could tune out his world in peace with his garden.

I didn't have the energy to figure out what I needed, I just kept plugging away to make sure everyone else was getting what they need to grow.  That was the time I went to see my doctor, asking Why Do I Feel so Depressed All the Time?

Fast forward a year and here I am.  I trained myself out of a job and started focusing on just my family.  This gave me the daytime to put the pieces together for me.  The Internet has become my Garden of Eden.

I want to fill this blog with all the interesting facts about everything that is real.
